Wicked
I was only going to write about Israel, but last night was really good so I'll have to stick it in here:
I saw Wicked last night. It was soooooo good! Not just the singing and dancing, which were excellent. But the puns, especially: "There's a goat on the lam!" And the allusions to the book/movie: "Elphaba"; "'Lemons and melons and pears!' 'Oh my!'"; "She must have been raised in a barn". It takes a certain kind of creative genius that I only wish I could have to invent a story entirely consistent with the "known facts" of the original and yet flips everything around. Is it going too far to say that some Arab leaders have the same creative genius as Gregory Maguire?
